Biography


Sumika Forbes is an artist in every since of the word. She is a talented singer songwriter focused on the pop/ dance genre. Sumika came from the beautiful island of Maui, where she started to write songs as soon as she had learned to write.

As her love for music and melody grew she learned to play the hawaiian instrument, the ukulele. As her passion continued to build she started to perform with her ukulele around the Island of maui. Soon she began entering competitions where she often would write the songs she would compete with.

"I get inspired by nature. Ideas start to come to me when I am out in the beauty that nature and somehow a song develops out of it." She began to build a following in the hawaiian music community and trained with many well known Hawaiian Music Artists one of them being Grammy winner Keoki Kahumoku.

When Sumika was a teenager she decided she wanted to focus more on her vocal ability and writing talents. She joined an all girls R&B group called "Lo-Boy" based out of maui. It was with Lo-boy that she first become comfortable working in the studio, writing, performing live and doing publicity events.

"Lo-boy was a great experience for me, I got to learn all about working in the studio and collaborating with other artists, it was a great opportunity at 16." After gaining experience with Lo-boy Sumika decided it was time to move forward with her goals and moved to southern california to take on a Solo career! She has found her passion in the dance/pop world of music and has teamed up with Hollywood Producer, Michael Raphael and is currently recording her debut album "Miracle" due out in April, 2012.

Her vocal style has been compared to that of Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Pink.
